5 Questions to Ask when your Marketing ISN’T Working

If you want to make the most from your marketing spend, there’s some questions you need to ask to fix it!

Whether it’s building a social media campaign or a state-of-the-art website, when it comes to marketing your business you just want it to work. There are a lot of things you can do, but that doesn’t necessarily translate to leads or sales and getting the results you want.

Here are five common questions and answers that should assist you to get a grip on your marketing and making it work:

1. My website isn’t working. How do I get the most out of it?

The first thing we ask our clients is what is the purpose of your website? Is it to get leads? Or simply educate? Or do you want to sell a product? Once you have a clear understanding it’s easier to develop a strategy to maximize your website.

2. I’m spending money on marketing but I can’t tell if it’s working?

The first thing to do is as part of your marketing plan get clear on your spending and what it is achieving. Tracking your leads and which marketing source they are coming from is crucial. Asking the simple question “where did you find out about us” with every phone call and on online website forms is key. In an ideal world using a CRM to do this for you will save time and money.

3. Does social media really work?

If you have/had a Facebook page, Instagram or linked it – the first question is: what would you do with it? Having social media is a journey you go on with current and potential clients. It’s not about an instant sale but about building relationships through education, content, what you do and how you do it. And if you mainly deal with B2B (business to business) LinkedIn may be a better fit than Facebook.

4. Is marketing to current clients important?

The answer is absolutely! Marketing to current clients isn’t just about special offers or promotions but about keeping them engaged and your business top of mind. Think about your customers’ buyer journey with you and identify areas for improvement or long gaps without contact and develop ways to rectify those situations. This can be done through blogs, content and general updates.

5. What should I do if my marketing strategies just don’t work?

Marketing actually does has a formula so if it’s not working, a part of your formula is broken.
